This design is inspired by the iconic oranges of Yaffa — a symbol of life, heritage, and a land that continues to live on through its people.
At the front, a simple orange paired with the name Yaffa represents roots, identity, and a timeless connection.
On the back, the words “The Land of Sad Oranges” are printed — the title of Ghassan Kanafani’s book, a collection of ten short stories that capture moments of displacement and memory.
One of its most powerful images tells the story of a Palestinian family forced to leave their land, carrying oranges with them — not as fruit, but as a piece of the life they refused to let go of.
In this design, image and words come together:
the orange in the front represents life that continues,
while the words on the back carry the story.

I love this pin. She is a subtle way of stating your opinion and she is very well made. But she has a tendency to hang upside down due to balance. She now lives on a breast pocket of a coat so she has a little support to stay upright and it works perfectly. Would recommend 10/10
